Baaar Haaar-Bah

I have been wanting to go to Bar Harbor for a long time now. Tim kept asking me why, and honestly I do not know. Maybe I just really liked saying Bar Harbor with a thick Boston accent and so I kept saying it and decided I wanted to go, who knows. I have to say the entire time we were there I only heard one person say Baar-Haar-Bah...but that one time was GLORIOUS!

Any-hoo we stayed at a lovely little in on Atlantic Ave. right off of Main street. Our room was tiny, yet perfect...everything was green! :-)

Our rooms bathroom had an original toilet to the house and dated back to 1880. It was originally flushed with rainwater collected on the roof of the house. Now it is hooked up to all of our wonderful modern conveniences...but it was still wicked-cool.

After we settled in it was off to explore and discover the town that sits on the North-East edge of Mount Desert Island for a few days.

Views of of the water from downtown...

Sunset

This brings up thoughts of Algonquin...

For Sue and Nora:

The skull of a humpback

Ice Cream divided by Sandwiches = a Soda Fountain
That doesn't make sense?!?

Lobsters. We ate here one night...more to come on that. YUM!

The sandbar that shows up during low tide. This sandbar is the reason why Bar Harbor was named Bar Harbor. At low tide you can walk all the way across to the island, we were a little early so it wasn't fully across yet, but we did walk as far as we could. Let me tell you getting in that water even to mid-calf is C-O-L-D! I get the chills just looking at it...brr.

When in Maine.
We figured that at least one night spent on an Island in the state of Maine we should eat seafood. I was not willing to put all my eggs in one basket and get Lobster so I went with a fish and chips. Tim was feeling adventurous and with directions from our waitress ordered the lobster and received directions on how to go about eating it.

Two more houses I am thinking of purchasing in Bar Harbor.....

Perkins Pies...we went here on a suggestion from a worker in EMS in Danbury. It is found on Rt. 3 on your way to downtown. DELISH!

Being that we are Beth & Tim and good 'ol Irish lads we found yet another Brewery. The Atlantic Brewing Company. There beer can be found in all of the local rest. but we had to make a pit stop in to pick up some to bring home. I have to say there Blueberry soda is divine :-P

*Acadia posts to come...they coincide with the Bar Harbor portion of the trip but I decided to split them into two posts for the sheer volume of pics I have from the park.
