Hiking and Exploring Acadia National Park

Bubble Rock Trail

We hiked the 1 mile up to the top of South Bubble Rock to sweeping views of Jordan Pond from above.

The glacial erratic that was left perched on the edge of South Bubble as the glaciers retreated.

I am so strong! Grr...

Precipice Trail

Feeling bold we decide it was a good idea to go all out and hike one of the strenuous trails.
Strenuous trails are listed to have steep grades, many steady climbs ~doesn't sound too bad, nothing we haven't done before. Tim specifically picked this one because it says on our trail list that Precipice has "
iron rungs and ladders on exposed cliffs, very steep".

Now I would just like to point out that when they say "very steep"....and "exposed cliffs" the actually mean steep exposed cliffs, like one slip and you are pretty much falling a mile straight down. We were informed upon returning back to the Inn that it is the hardest trail in the park.

Champlain Mt. from afar...

The cliff face of Champlain Mountain, Precipice is the trail up this side of the mt.

Tim at the start of the trail....

Part of the trail...you can see the blue trail markings on some of the rocks. This part was fun and easy!

a nice resting spot with a pretty view...

keep on moving...

I think we smell...

Tim is loving this...

almost to the top...just don't look down, its a straight shot to the road below!

long way down...

amazing views

at the top...good thing we only read the first part of the sign at the bottom and didn't actually read the entire thing till we got to the top :-)

we made it!
