Halo

Tonight when we stepped outside we noticed the ring/rainbow around the moon. Of course I ran to get my camera and snapped a few pics. Problem is my lil digi camera doesn't take such great shots of the moon.

Any-hoo the ring around the moon is caused by the suns light reflecting off the moon and in turn bouncing off cirruform clouds in the upper parts of the atmosphere. These cirruform clouds are made of ice crystals and refract the light to make a 'rainbow' around the moon.Through the trees...
